Patent Attorney: IP associate with 2+ years of experience. A formal degree in Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering or other technical degree in a related area is required. Candidates must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and be familiar with patent laws. Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and admission to the California bar are required. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to organize and prioritize workflow and complete projects in a timely fashion.

Technical Draftsman: Experienced, reliable and accurate draftsman to provide patent and trademark illustrations. Familiarity with Patent Office Drawing Rules is essential.

Licensed Patent Agent: With at least two years' patent prosecution in electrical engineering and computer sciences. We are looking for an organized candidate, who possesses excellent writing skills and has a positive, team-player attitude. Opportunities exist in Santa Monica, Long Beach and Westlake Village offices.

Interns: We occasionally hire law school and undergrad students for full and part-time positions. This offers candidates the opportunity to work in a legal enviornment and gain hands on experience.

College Graduates: We give recent college graduates an opportunity to participate in our paralegal trainee program. After one year of employment C&T will offer to sponsor candidates who qualify to UCLA's Paralegal Training Program. Tuition will be paid upon acceptance into the UCLA Paralegal Certification Program.

Intellectual Property Paralegal training program and certification – 3 year plan  

 ·         Year One – After one year of employment and a favorable evaluation and review the employee shall be referred by his or her supervisor for sponsorship to the UCLA Paralegal Training Program.

·         Year Two - Qualifying candidates will be registered for the Paralegal Program and have their tuition and books paid for by Cislo & Thomas LLP.

·         Year Three - Upon completion of the year long program the participant will receive an ABA Paralegal Certification. Under supervision of the firm the employee will be given greater responsibilities and commence working as an Intellectual Property Paralegal.

In-house training programs – Weekly training sessions covering all aspects of IP practice and procedure.

Subsidized training/education programs – Employees who have a great work ethic and show an affinity for this area of law will be offered sponsorship for legal education and training to further their skills and knowledge.

Charitable efforts – We sponsor and participate in building homes for low-income families. In May of 2008 we took a group of employees to Tecate, Mexico to build a house for an underpriviledged family.

                                     

Job evaluation and salary review - Take place annually, as the employee gains more skills and becomes more proficient they will be compensated accordingly.
